Queen: Two special versions come out on vinyl and musicsetta
On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of “A Night at the Opera” and the single “Bohemian Rhapsody”, Universal Music publishes new limited editions on vinyl and musicset. Originally released in November 1975, with the classical formation of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon, “A Night at the Opera “represented a turning point in Queen’s careerreaching the first place of the rankings in five countries, including the United Kingdom.
The colored vinyl reprint of the album will be available from October 17th And he is already in pre -order on the Universal Music Italia online store. From 31 October the new editions of “Bohemian Rhapsody” will be released (with “I’m in love with my car” on the B side) in colored vinyl 7 ” and 12 ”, vinyl picture disc and musicsetta. “‘A Night at the Opera’ was a fundamental album for us, he opened us to the world,” recalls Brian May. “At that time we felt at the height of creative possibilities,” adds Roger Taylor. In fact, 1975 marked the definitive consecration of the band, with a job that expanded the foundations laid by the first three records and reflected the freedom found thanks to the collaboration with the producer Roy Thomas Baker and the new management of John Reid. Recorded in several studies, including the Rockfield Studios in Wales, the album collects twelve songs ranging from hard rock to pop, from folk to theatrical pastiche.
Among the best known moments: “Death on Two Legs”, “Love of My Life”, “You’re My Best Friend”, “The Prophet’s Song” and of course “Bohemian Rhapsody”, composition of Freddie Mercury who combines ballad, rock and opera passages. Published as a single, he remained for nine consecutive weeks at the number one in the UK and returned to the top in 1991 after the death of the singer. In 2004 he entered the Grammy Hall of Fame and in 2022 he was selected by the National Recording Registry in the United States. “I always thought that ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ was special from the beginning,” says Taylor. “It was really a turning point for us,” concludes May.
