Queen: “Queen Rock Montreal” coming soon
It will be published on May 10th “Queen Rock Montreal” in double CD Limited Edition, double Bluray and triple LP formats. Recorded in 1981, digitally restored and recently presented as an IMAX concert film.
In November 1981 i Queen they were living in a particularly inspired moment, when they returned to perform twice at the Forum de Montréal, Canada. After establishing themselves in the 1970s, i Queen they had welcomed the 80s with the album “The Game” (1981), which had songs such as “Another One Bites The Dust” And “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”. But the single also came out in that period “Under Pressure” (1981), in this the English band duetted with David Bowie and the song would later be included in the album “Hot Space” (1982).
THE Queen they arrived in Montreal after two years of touring the United States and Central and South America. At the Morumbi Stadium in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon they performed in front of over 150,000 people. “Montreal is one of our favorite cities, there is a fantastic crowd, overflowing with energy,” he said Brian May, “We had already played at the Forum several times, it was always full of enthusiastic people.” The concerts took place on 24 and 25 November 1981.
Roger Taylor he said: “It's fascinating to realize now how free we were in 1981. It's like being on stage with just the band because the cameras are so high quality for the time. I've never seen anything that makes you feel so involved in the show.” This is how Freddie Mercury opened this show…: “Hello Montreal… long time no see. Do you want to go crazy?”.
The video of this performance by Queen was restored from 35mm film, processed frame by frame to remove any imperfections, damage or splices in the film, with the aim of improving image sharpness and quality.
“I can't think of any other record from our shows where you're so intimately in touch with Freddie, with his anger, his insecurity, his knowledge that he can move people right to the back of the auditorium. For me he is very emotional,” she says Brian May about this show.
The Bluray format includes 21 minutes of the electric performance of the Queen at Live Aidfor the first time in high definition and with new Stereo, 5.1 and Dolby Atmos audio mixes.
