“Public Enemy are rockier than 95% of hair metal bands”
According to what was declared by the guitarist of Rage Against the Machine Tom Morello at Guitar World, talking about Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, i Public Enemy they’re more rock ‘n’ roll than most hair metal bands. “One thing people get wrong is that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be just for rock and roll bands. That’s not why it exists.”
Tom Morello he went on to argue, “Public Enemy is more rock ‘n’ roll than 95 percent of the hair metal bands that have ever picked up an instrument.
It’s music that has spirit. I think rock ‘n’ roll should have a very, very broad meaning. I think there’s room for a lot of different genres.”
THE Public Enemy were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. “Public Enemy are definitely candidates for first-ballot induction. Their work had both groundbreaking sounds and groundbreaking lyrics. One thing I’ve always taken to heart is a lyric from Chuck D, ‘The rhythm, the rebel’. I always thought that meant that the music you’re playing can be as revolutionary as any words you sing on it.”
In 2016 Morello founded the rap-rock band dei
