Primus found the new drummer. The video of the audition
Last autumn, Tim “Herb” Alexander, drummer of Primusleft the band, pushing the other members to publish a call for the search for a new drummer.
After being 6200 candidates in search of a new drummer, Primus, multi-pillar alternative bands, have chosen the one who will take a place behind the kit: John Hoffmanknown mainly for its performance on YouTube and on social media.
As the Primus themselves documented online, the talents were not lacking in auditions and the following artists, in addition to the chosen Hoffman, came to the final phase of the auditions in person with the band:
Rory Dolan (Lespecial)
Thomas Pridgen (Fever 333, ex The Mars Volta, etc.)
Mike Stone
Stan Bicknell
Sam Groves (Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio)
Nikki Glaspie (The Nth Power, Snarky Puppy, etc.)
Gargo Borlai
Thomas Lang (Stork, etc.)
By documenting the hearing process, Hoffman wrote in January:
Luck is when preparation meets the opportunity.
I came and did my things as I do.
It went as I could never have hoped.
Maynard James Keenan was sitting right in front of me and witnessed all my hearing.
He gave me this towel.
It was one of the most incredible days of my life.
I love you all. We did it.
This is the story of Hoffman’s audition
Hoffman will be on tour with the Primus returned to full speed from next April as part of the “Sixty V2.0 Tour” together with A Perfect Circle And Puscifer.
The tour will continue to celebrate the 60th birthday of Maynard James Keenansinger of the A Perfect Circle, Puscifer and Tools.
The members of the A Perfect Circle, the Puscifer and the Primus will alternate every evening to hatchet the respective songs during the tour.
However, before these dates, the Primus will play at the first “Tool Live in the Sand” Tool Festival in Punta Cana. For this special performance, there will be on drums Danny Carey of the tools.
