Poison the Well release an album after 17 years
We hadn’t seen an album by them since 2009, i.e. since “The Tropic Rot”. Poison the Well. Now the historic metalcore band is ready to return with “Peace in Place“, their sixth studio album.
The group led by Jeffrey Moreira announces the imminent release of ten new songs, anticipated by the single “Thoroughbreds”: the date to mark on the calendar is March 20.
“Joining Poison the Well at 18 and dedicating myself to music shaped my approach to life. Coming back 16 years later, not knowing if I was still capable of doing what I once left behind, only strengthened our bond and how much this band has given me. I’m grateful to be able to do it again with my friends and to share a record made with honesty, intention and connection at its core.”
“Connection” sometimes “is born in darker places, and having an outlet for those emotions is how we find our way forward.” This record – the “most pissed off ever“, claims the singer – “crosses the entire emotional spectrum. It’s about turning something negative into something honest, putting it into the world and realizing that even in anger we are still capable of moving forward, relating to others and finding some form of peace — if not happiness, then at least a foothold.”
On the new single, Moreira adds: “Beasts of burden are hard to break, not because they are strong, but because they are stubborn. Thoroughbreds talks about the awareness that some lasting bonds don’t dissolve immediately; they disband after believing they were there to stay.”
