Pink Floyd: reissue, unreleased songs and events for “Wish you were here”

Officially starting last September 12th, when the exact anniversary of the release was, the celebrations linked to the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s “Wish you where here” come to life. Sony Music has announced the December 12 release of a special reissue of the British band’s classic, “Wish you where here 50“. The reissue – already available for pre-order at this link – will be published in various formats: 3LP, 2CD, Blu-ray, digital and deluxe box set. THE 3LP and 2CD formats include the original album and nine bonus studio tracks. The deluxe box set contains all the material on 2CD, 3LP (exclusive transparent vinyl) and Blu-ray, as well as a fourth LP on transparent vinyl, “Live At Wembley 1974”, a replica of the Japanese 7” single “Have A Cigar” / “Welcome To The Machine”, a hardback book with previously unpublished photographs, a comic book with the tour program and a poster of the Knebworth concert. The digital edition will include the original 1975 album with a new Dolby Atmos mix created by James Guthrie, Pink Floyd’s collaborator since 1979 with “The Wall”. It also includes 25 bonus tracks consisting of 9 studio rarities and 16 live recordings made by famous bootlegger Mike Millard at Pink Floyd’s concert at the Los Angeles Sports Arena on April 26, 1975 (officially released here for the first time). The edition Blu-ray It also allows fans to see 3 of the concert footage from the 1975 tour, as well as a Storm Thorgerson short film. The live audio has been carefully restored and remastered by Steven Wilson.

The “Wish You Were Here 50” collection will offer a new and exciting perspective on one of the band’s most iconic and beloved records. The celebratory edition includes several rarity: at the center of this special collection are 6 alternative versions and unreleased demos that present Pink Floyd’s eighth studio album in a completely new guise. Among others upcoming studio rarity, they appear “The Machine Song (Roger’s demo)”, the first home demo that Roger Waters originally presented to the band, an unreleased instrumental mix of “Wish You Were Here” that highlights David Gilmour’s pedal steel guitar, another unreleased demo of “Welcome to the Machine” “The Machine Song (Demo #2, Revisited)”and, for the first time, a full version of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Pts. 1-9)” which combines the two parts of the song in a new stereo mix created by James Guthrie.
