Pharrell Williams named Knight of the Légion d’Honneur
Shortly after his last show for Louis Vuitton, Pharrell Williams received from the hands of the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron the Légion d’HonneurFrance’s highest honor. The ceremony, held privately in the Jardin d’Hiver of the Elysée, brought together some of the most important personalities from the world of fashion and the arts to celebrate the career of an artist recognized for his creativity.
“Dear Pharrell” began the President Macron“you are our personal Peace Council, because you always bring peace, comfort and hope to France, to America, to the whole world. Everywhere your music is listened to. Speaking of your decisive influence on fashion in France, I noticed that you always wear very elegant sunglasses. It is excellent advice, which I have also tried to adopt in these last days.” The joke clearly refers to the President’s style, recently at the center of international discussions and among the most commented topics at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Macron has therefore retraced his career by Pharrell Williams, from his beginnings and his discovery of music as a personal resource, passing through the first instrument he received as a gift from his grandmother, up to the key moments of his artistic journey: from the Neptunes to the hits produced for Jay-Z and Britney Spears, without forgetting of course “Happy”, the hit that consecrated him to global stardom.
Since 4 February 2023, Williams has also been the artistic director of the men’s collections Louis Vuittonan appointment inaugurated with a parade on the Pont Neuf. This was followed, in 2024, by the presentation in the UNESCO spaces; in the same year, he was nominated UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadorin recognition of his commitment to artistic education and creative entrepreneurship, especially for the benefit of the younger generations.
