Pearl Jam Cancel London Show Due to Health Concern
With just two concerts to go until the end of their European summer tour, the Pearl Jam have canceled their performance tomorrow (June 29) at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium London “due to a health issue in the band.”
Although it was not disclosed which member is ill, frontman Eddie Vedder struggled during Pearl Jam’s previous concert in Manchester last Tuesday due to a problem with his voice.
“This was the last decision we wanted to make, especially since we know many of you have made travel plans based on the tour schedule,” Pearl Jam said on social media. “There was simply no other option, based on our current health conditions and also to prevent further damage. We could not be more disappointed to not be playing one of our favorite cities on this tour. Despite our best efforts, it was not possible to reschedule the tour at this time due to prior commitments.” “We are deeply grateful for your support and sincerely apologize to the incredible Pearl Jam community for the inconvenience and disappointment. Tickets will be refunded.”
Pearl Jam has had to deal with show cancellations related to band members’ illnesses on numerous occasions in recent years, many of them due to Covid. In the summer of 2022, Vedder lost his voice after performing in hot, dusty, and smoky conditions at Lollapalooza in Paris and missed the next three concerts. Drummer Matt Cameron was also knocked out by covid.
The band has now confirmed the first of two shows, on Tuesday, at the Waldbühne in Berlin.
