Paul Weller: “I won’t go to see Oasis live”
Paul Weller, one of the most loved and respected icons of British music, said that, while recognizing how much the Oasis reunion tour will be “remembered forever” by the fans, he will not participate in any of the concerts. Liam and Noel Gallagher kicked off the highly anticipated Live ’25 tour with two evenings at the Cardiff’s mainty stadium last month, and then performed in their hometown, Manchester, with five concerts at the Heaton Park. Following, they climbed on the stage of the Wembley stadium in London for five of the seven dates scheduled. During a recent interview with Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2, Weller was asked what he thought of this return in style. While praising the giants of Britpop, the artist admitted that he had not witnessed any of their shows and not even wanting to do it in the future.
“I’m not a big fan of mega concerts,” he explained. “I asked Noel, a few weeks or month ago: ‘Will you do some heating lives?’ – But he didn’t make it. Here, I would go to see something like that in a smaller place. I don’t like big concerts. It doesn’t matter who performs, really“.” The former Jam frontman added that, unless you find yourself in the front row, you inevitably end up looking at the show on giant screens. ” Weller’s comments on his aversion to concerts in the stadiums come a few days after the concerns that emerged regarding the safety of the Oasis events, after the tragic death of the 45 -year -old fan Lee Claydon during their concert in Wembley last Saturday (2 August).
