Paul McCartney, new album is coming

Paul McCartney has announced the new album “The Boys of Dungeon Lane”, the eighteenth solo album of his career. The album collects new songs and looks at the artist’s formative years in Liverpool, between personal memories and love songs.
The album was born from a collaboration with producer Andrew Watt, which began about five years ago. During an informal meeting, McCartney developed a chord sequence that gave rise to the opening track, “As You Lie There.” From there the work on the album began, recorded between Los Angeles and Sussex during the breaks of a long tour, without deadlines imposed by the record company.

The album’s title comes from the song “Days We Left Behind”, which revolves around memories linked to Dungeon Lane, a symbolic place of McCartney’s youth. “For me this song is really a memory. The title of the album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, comes from a line in this song. I was just thinking about this, about the days I’ve left behind, and I often wonder if I’m just writing about the past, but then I think: how can you write about anything else? It’s just so many memories of Liverpool. There’s a part in the middle that’s about John and Forthlin Road, the street I used to live on. Dungeon Lane is nearby. I used to live in a place called Speke, quite a working-class neighborhood, we had almost nothing, but it didn’t matter because the people were great and you didn’t realize you didn’t have much.” says Paul McCartney.

In the song McCartney plays most of the instruments, recalling the spirit of his 1970 solo debut, “McCartney”, report the promotional notes of the announcement, which also states that the album was recorded in several sessions between one stage and another of a world tour that lasted five years, between Los Angeles and Sussex.
