Pat Metheny: the album “MoonDial” is released, then tour also in Italy

The 69-year-old American guitarist Pat Metheny has announced the release of his new album for July 26th “MoonDial” (BMG Modern Recordings). The release is preceded by the single “You're Everything”.

The sound of “MoonDial” features a custom made baritone guitar made by Linda Manzer, among the best luthiers in the world. Combined with a new type of nylon string produced in Argentina, this guitar allowed the American musician to use a tuning system that he himself believed was only possible with the use of steel strings. The joy of this new configuration of the instrument pushed him, for the first time, to conceive, record and release an album while on tour: “It's a beautiful new world, rich and with a feeling of infinity.”

Many of the unreleased songs were composed last fall during the album's tour “Dream Box” published last year. “Last fall's tour represented not only the sound and feel of 'Dream Box,' but an opportunity to study studio recording and concert methods in a solo context. As with 'Dream Box,' every recording soloist is different from the other. The idea is to continue finding different angles and ways of thinking about music, hopefully maintaining a fundamental aesthetic that works. In other words, continue the search.”

The album will be supported by a tour that will also stop in Italy. Below is the Italian concert calendar:
