“Ozzy was never an Iron Maiden fan,” his sons say
The son of Ozzy OsbourneJack, hosted his brother Louis on his YouTube channel. The two remembered their father – passed away last July 22nd – telling several anecdotes about his life, among other topics, they revealed what Ozzy listened to in the privacy of his home, when he was away from the blinding lights of rock.
The portrait of music listening that is painted by his children of the former singer of Black Sabbath it is much more varied and eclectic than you might think. Louis Osbourne he explained that his father’s musical tastes were very far from the rock world. “He didn’t listen to rock at all. Just before he died, I was spending time with him, he had his little Bose or JBL amp plugged into his phone. He listened to it constantly while he was drawing or working out. He listened to stuff like Tears for Fears and a lot of ’80s music.”
Furthermore, Ozzy was particularly impressed by contemporary singers. Louis says again: “I’ll tell you who really blew him away when she came out: Adele. He was deeply in awe of her vocal range, her voice and her singing. Even Amy Winehouse. He thought very highly of Amy Winehouse. Of course they’re probably the two greatest voices to come out in the last twenty years in the UK. He listened to everything.”
Ozzy was very selective when it came to rock music. Jack Osbourne he stated that his father was more inclined to listen to and appreciate melodic rock rather than harder bands. “He was more into the melodic stuff anyway. He listened to AC/DC. He really, probably only listened to AC/DC. He didn’t listen to Iron Maiden. No. Hell no. He was never a Maiden fan. Never. He listened to… I would hear him listen to Metallica every now and then. And Guns N’ Roses.”
