Olivia Rodrigo’s mother missed her live show to see Korn

Choosing whether to see Olivia Rodrigo or Korn in concert at a festival might seem like a rather simple decision if it depended only on your favorite musical genre. It would be much less simple, however, if the first was your daughter and the second one of your favorite metal bands. The “Drivers License” pop star’s mother, Jennifer Rodrigo, was faced with this decision to make last year, when her daughter and Jonathan Davis’ band headlined Lollapalooza in Chicago on the same day, August 1, 2025.

During her recent participation in “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, Olivia Rodrigo recalled last year’s festival and thus revealed that her mother Jennifer skipped her daughter’s concert at Lollapalooza to attend the performance of Korn, who were playing at the same time. After revealing that her father Chris is a huge Cure fan, a passion he has also passed on to her, the singer spoke about her mother, saying:

“My mom likes a lot of crazy metal bands, and you’d never guess it by looking at her. Last year I headlined Lollapalooza, and it was a fantastic experience, a dream come true. But at the festival the headliners perform at the same time. That day, for example, it was me and Korn headlining, at the same time but on opposite stages. And everyone said: ‘Perfect. Olivia’s fans will go to see Olivia, Korn’s fans will go to see Olivia. to see Korn. There’s no overlap between the two audiences.’ There was an overlap instead, and it was my mother. My mother skipped my concert to go see Korn!”

Yesterday, June 12th, Olivia Rodrigo released her new and third album “You seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” (here is our review), which she will present live during her tour also in Italy for two dates at the Unipol Dome in Milan on April 27th and 28th 2027. For their part, Korn will be in our area next November 21st for a concert at the Unipol Forum in Assago.
