Yesterday, June 22nd, which for some coincides with “World Goth Day”, a day in which the goth scene can celebrate its identity and make its presence known to the rest of the world, Olivia Rodrigo released a new song titled “The CureDespite the title and the bond of friendship and esteem between the singer and frontman Robert Smith, the song has no connection with the band of the same name.

Olivia Rodrigo had the opportunity to explain the meaning of his new songpreview of third studio album “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love” to be released on June 12th, in a recent interview. Just yesterday, to promote the single, Rodrigo was a guest on the American radio program “Elvis Duran Show”. On the sidelines of the chat, the singer was asked about possible connection between his new song “The Cure”, “World Goth Day” and the Cure. Olivia Rodrigo then confirmed that she hadn’t even realized the coincidence and declared:

“Honestly, this song, “The Cure”, has nothing to do with The Cure – even though I love the band so much. It’s just a happy coincidence.”

Speaking of the newly released song, Rodrigo had already revealed that “The Cure” is his favorite song from his upcoming album, “You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love”, and he reiterated this in the recent interview stating: “I’m really, really proud of this song. I completely love it and can’t wait for people to hear it. I think it represents a new point of view which perhaps I hadn’t yet had the maturity to express in my previous albums. Yes, I’m really obsessed with it. I’m very happy to publish it.”

Furthermore, during the chat, Olivia Rodrigo also had the opportunity to confirm that you are still in regular contact with Robert Smithwith whom he dueted at the Glastonbury Festival last year. “We talk practically every week,” said the voice of “Drivers license”: “It’s fantastic”.

The Californian artist will return in concert in Italy for his “The Unraveled Tour” in the spring of 2027, with a double date set at the Unipol Dome in Milan on April 27, 2027 and April 28, 2027.
