Oasis, the reunion: the monetization of nostalgia

Oasis: the first lineup hypotheses on social media

Last August he Oasis have confirmed their return to the stage with a series of concerts which, starting from GB and Ireland, have gradually “spread” throughout the world (and it seems not to be over yet), showing a great response from the public who was evidently waiting for this return to the scene of an iconic band.

Given the wait it’s no surprise that there has been, amplified by social media, huge speculation about which members would be joining Liam and Noel for the shows and fans have now also started to wonder which songs from their vast discography might make it into the setlist .

Thus began a flurry of hypotheses and, between dream and reality, a list of Oasis songs began circulating on X/Twitter, with some fans claiming that it was the “leaked” setlist of the upcoming concerts.

The list also came to Liam Gallagher and the (always very active on social media) frontman decided to have his say on the veracity of the post. So when a fan sent in the list, the singer replied on

According to the post, the band will open the concerts with “Acquiesce”, before continuing with classics such as “Some Might Say”, “Lyla”, “Shakermaker” and “The Hindu Times”.

In the central part of the show, the brothers will perform “She’s Electric”, “Stand By Me”, “Stop Crying Your Heart Out”, “The Importance Of Being Idle”, “Half The World Away”, “Whatever”, “Slide Away “, “Supersonic” and “Morning Glory”.

In total, the list includes a show of 21 songs played live which would conclude (the conditional is a must) with performances of “Rock’n’Roll Star”, “Cigarettes & Alcohol”, “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, “Live Forever” and “Champagne Supernova”.

While Liam didn’t share any further details about the setlist or which parts of the “leaked” post were true, he responded to the same fan who asked if one of his solo songs would be part of the setlist.

When asked “Which solo song of yours would you include in the Oasis set list?”, the singer replied with one word: “None”.
