Oasis, rumours: “Rome’s Olimpico in the sights for 2027”

Where were we? Oh, yes. It was last April and Liam Gallagher, on holiday in Rome with his family, was tackled by fans outside the hotel and made a solemn promise: «Oasis in concert in Rome next year? Without doubts.” Now, two months later, the Roman edition of La Repubblica headlines: «Oasis put the Olimpico in their sights». In an article written by Lorenzo D’Albergo and Marco Juric, the Roman newspaper reports that negotiations have already started. But between whom?

Two different entities are mentioned. On the one hand the Municipality of Rome, whose idea would be “to show the Oasis promoters that you can think big”, that is, to go beyond the 65 thousand seats of the Olimpico and break through the ceiling of 200 thousand attendances guaranteed by the arena in Tor Vergata which will be christened on 4 July by Ultimo with its concert-event “The fairy tale forever”. On the other, Sport e Salute, the company that manages the Olimpico, whose doors “would obviously be very open to Oasis”. According to La Repubblica, the Olimpico would be the “designated container” by the band for July 2027.

The timing of the announcement of Oasis’ new tour is unknown. What in the summer of 2025 marked the return of the Gallagher brothers sixteen years after the quarrel that put an end (provisionally) to the parable of the legendary British band was announced at the end of August 2024.
