Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ New Single Out Now
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds publish today “Long Dark Nights”, the third single from the band’s 18th studio album “Wild God” which will be released on August 30th.
This intimate twilight ballad is inspired by the poem “Dark Night of the Soul” by the 16th century Spanish poet Saint John of the Cross. Through its reflective lyrics, the piece evokes the poem’s themes of struggle and transcendence.
Regarding the song Cave says:
Long Dark Night It’s inspired by one of the greatest and most powerful conversion poems ever written. Ultimately, though, it’s a beautiful country tune. It feels like a sweet companion to the song “Wild God“.
Across ten tracks on the new album, the band moves between convention and experimentation, with twists and turns that enhance the richness of images and emotions in Cave’s narratives.
Regarding the album Cave says:
”Wild God”…you don’t mess around with this record. When it hits, it hits. It lifts you up. It moves you. I like that aspect of it” – Nick Cave
Produced by Cave and Warren Ellis and mixed by David Fridmann, Cave began writing the album on New Year’s Day 2023. During sessions at Miraval in Provence and Soundtree in London, the Bad Seeds added their unique chemistry, with the additional participation of Colin Greenwood (low) and Louis Almau (classical guitar, acoustic guitar.
