Nick Cave pays homage to Shane MacGowan in Dublin
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds kicked off their 2026 European tour with a concert in Dublin which reserved several surprises for fans, including rarities dusted off after years and a heartfelt tribute to Shane MacGowan. The show took place on June 10 at Malahide Castle, Ireland, and marked the Australian band’s return to touring the UK and Europe for the first time since 2024. For the occasion, Nick Cave and his companions proposed a set list of 24 songs that alternated beloved classics with pieces rarely performed live.
After the opening entrusted to “Get Ready For Love”, “From Her To Eternity” and “Wild God”, the group brought “Train Long-Suffering” back to the stage, performed for the first time since 1989. Other rarities of the evening also included “Hiding All Away”, back live for the first time since 2013, and “Stranger Than Kindness”, absent from the setlists since 2015. Closing the concert was a special version of “A Rainy Night In Soho”, a historic song by The Pogues. This is the first time Nick Cave has performed the song with the Bad Seeds since 1997. As reported by Hot Press, the dedication was not addressed only to Shane MacGowanwho passed away in 2023, but also a Trevor Dietz, manager of Fontaines DC., who died in recent days. The Dublin concert thus kicked off a new European tour that promises to offer a combination of great classics and surprises for long-time fans every night.
