Nick Cave: medley of American classics for “Joker: Folie à Deux”

With the arrival in cinemas of “Joker: Folie à Deux”, the soundtrack of the film was also released, with Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, joined in the cast by Lady Gaga.

The film features songs performed by the main couple of the film and by Nick Cave, whose contribution came as a surprise and consists of a medley. The Bad Seeds frontman opens the soundtrack of “Joker: Folie à Deux” by performing “Slap that bass”, originally composed by George Gershwin for the 1937 musical starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, “Shall we dance”, along with “ Get happy”, the song that Judy Garland performed in the 1950 musical “Summer stock”, and Jackie DeShanno’s 1965 hit “What the world needs now is love”.

The “Joker: Folie à Deux” soundtrack also includes covers of other American classics such as “For Once In My Life”, “If My Friends Could See Me Now”, “That’s Entertainment”, “That’s Life”, “When You ‘re Smiling (The Whole World Smiles With You)”, as well as the original song “Folie à Deux”, written, produced and sung by Lady Gaga.

The soundtrack is produced by Phoenix and Gaga, with executive production by music producer Jason Ruder, Phillips, Joaquin Phoenix and music supervisors Randall Poster and George Drakoulias.
