Nick Cave is writing the new Bad Seeds album
In between parts of the Bad Seeds tour Nick Cave is working on new material for the band. In his newsletter “Red hand files”, the artist talked about what he is reading in this period but also how he protects himself to concentrate on writing lyrics in view of possible studio sessions, he says: “I’m trying to limit the time I spend on my phone – no social media, as always, but also fewer podcasts, especially political ones. All that endless and stressful politics can become a sort of agitating and deafening tinnitus. I find that going about my business in relative silence, with attention to the things around me, and free from opinions incessant actions of others, is good for the soul.”
and then move on to music
Right now I’m back in my office writing lyrics and I particularly need silence, so that the words can find their way – and so that I have something to sing when I enter the studio next week with Warren to begin what may, in the distant future, when all the stars align and the planets clap their hands in joy, become the next Bad Seeds record.
The Bad Seeds’ latest album, “Wild god”, was released at the end of summer 2024 – while “Live god” was released at the end of 2025, taken from the first part of the band’s tour. At the beginning of 2026 the Bad Seeds toured Australia and New Zealand while on June 10th they will return to Europe on tour, starting from Dublin to arrive in Italy on June 28th at La Prima Estate, in Lido di Camaiore
