Nick Cave and his influence on other artists, a new documentary film

The veiled world of Nick Cave” is the title of the new documentary that promises to explore Nick Cave’s “influence” on other artists. The feature, which will be broadcast on Sky Documentaries later this year, will count on the participation of artists such as – among others – Florence Welch, Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood and Warren Ellis. In the docu-film, the musicians involved are asked to talk about how working with the Australian musician has – according to what is reported in the press notes – “transformed their creative lives, examining the archetypal figures intertwined in his works, his artistic courage and his singular impact”. In addition to a number of Cave’s long-time colleagues and collaborators, the documentary will also collect testimonies from Irvine Welsh, designer Bella Freud and director Wim Wenderswho will discuss the impact the Bad Seeds frontman had on their creative work.

Regarding “The veiled world of Nick Cave”, in a statement reported by NME, Phil Edgar-Jones OBE, Executive Director of Unscripted Originals at Sky, said: “Nick Cave is one of those incomparable artists whose narrative power knows no limits. His vivid landscapes come to life through his lyrics, books, music and ceramics. We are thrilled to be able to reveal his brilliantly layered world in this special.”

Alongside the announcement of the new documentary, further details about the series were also revealed.”The death of Bunny Munro“, officially announced by Sky last August as a new transposition of Cave’s second novel, published in 2009 and following his 1989 debut, “And the ass saw the angel”. The same singer-songwriter of “Skeleton tree” is involved in the series for the composition of the soundtrack together with Warren Ellis.

With his Bad Seeds, however, Nick Cave has announced a tour for next year which will see him perform in Australia, New Zealand and Europe. In Italy the scheduled date has been confirmed The First Summer next June 26th. In our area, the singer-songwriter and his band were protagonists last year of a date in Milan (here our story) of the tour in support of the latest album “The wild god” (here our review). As a soloist, Cave held a series of concerts last July accompanied by Colin Greenwood, who had participated in the making of the Bad Seeds’ last album, before joining them on tour.
