Neil Young sings a 1977 song live for the first time
The emergence of a small problem related to his health forced Neil Young to cancel much of his summer tour with the faithful Crazy Horse. Now the 78-year-old Canadian musician has recovered and is back performing in concert. Not with Crazy Horse but with a new group, the Chrome Hearts, band composed by the organist Spooner Oldhamfrom the guitarist Micah Nelsonfrom the bassist Corey McCormick and from the drummer Anthony LoGerfo.
Young and Chrome Hearts made their debut at Farm Aid in Saratoga over the weekend, before playing to a crowd at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester. On their second date at the venue, the Toronto native treated the crowd to a real treat, playing an oldie, “Hey Babe”.
“Hey Babe”
song was released on his 1977 album
“American Stars ‘N Bars”
engraved with the
Crazy Horse
. The album features backing vocals
Nicolette Larson, Linda Rondstadt
And
Emmylou Harris
.
As Rolling Stone magazine explains, Neil Young he didn’t do a real tour in support of that album and “Hey Babe” became one of only two songs from his 70s output never to be performed live. Now the only thing missing is “Will To Love”another song present in “American Stars ‘N Bars”.
