Neil Young backtracks: he will headline Glastonbury 2025
Neil Young will headline at Glastonbury 2025. That’s it the singer-songwriter confirmed in the last few hours after announcing on his website Neil Young Archive his decision to withdraw from the event due to creative differences.
“The Chrome Hearts and I were looking forward to playing Glastonbury, one of my all-time favorite outdoor concerts. We were told that the BBC is a partner of Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way that we weren’t interested in. Looks like Glastonbury is down now a company audit and it is no longer as I remembered it,” Young wrote.
Now, again via his website, the artist has made it known that he has to backtrack on his previous decision and declared: “Due to an error in the information receivedI had decided not to play at the Glastonbury festival, which I have always loved. Luckily, the festival is back on our itinerary and we can’t wait to play! We hope to see you there!” Festival organizer Emily Eavis quickly posted a post on Instagram that read: “What a start to the year! Neil Young is an artist close to our hearts at Glastonbury. He does things his way and that’s why we love him. We can’t wait to welcome him back here to headline on the Pyramid Stage in June“.
At the moment, a detailed schedule for Glastonbury 2025 has not yet been announced. Apart from Neil Young, the only artists confirmed so far are Rod Stewart, who will play in the Legends slot on Sunday afternoon, and Nile Rodgers who accidentally let it be known that at the event his Chic will perform.
