Naska like Red Hot: naked (pretend) on stage in Milan
Naska like the Red Hot Chili Peppers. On the occasion of his first concert at the Assago Forum, last night the self-proclaimed Italian “prince of punk rock” appeared on stage quoting the “Californication” band: he opened the concert on the notes of “Mai come gli altri” with a flesh-colored underwear and a sock to cover the penis, just like Red Hot in their early days (legend has it that Kiedis’ idea was inspired by a performance of the group in a Hollywood strip club, the Kit Kat Club, in 1983). Unlike Naska, however, RHCP did not wear underwear: “We put socks on our penises and we can never escape this memory associated with us.
People will always think about it. However, I am convinced that ultimately the art we have created, for its value, will stand the test of time for what it is,” Flea reportedly said in a 2019 interview with GQ, recalling the embarrassing performances with the so-called “cock- sock”. Here is the video of Naska’s performance and, below, the original one by Red Hot.
Naska, real name Diego Caterbetti, born in 1997, released his third album, “The freak show” last October: “This album, compared to the previous ones, I don’t see it as more mature, I see it as more courageous, yes – he said the singer-songwriter in our interview – I said to myself: do you want to do the super grunge song Do it? Do you want to do the song where you mix Berlin techno with punk-rock like in ‘Berlino’?
