Muse announce new album “The WOW! Signal”

English rock band Muse have revealed details of their tenth studio album, “The WOW! Signal”out June 26 on Warner Records. The announcement was accompanied by an operation in space: in collaboration with Sent Into Space, the band sent a tablet 33km up into the atmosphere to preview the video of “Be With You”while a second package contained stickers for a limited vinyl edition, which fans could request. The album marks Muse’s return afterwards “Will Of The People” of 2022, which had reached number one on Billboard’s “Top Rock Albums” and “Top Alternative Albums” charts.

The launch single, “Be With You”opens with a church organ and Matt Bellamy’s voice, then evolves into a mix of electronic and rock. The song addresses the transition from despondency to determination, with lyrics such as: “I feel my life has just begun, it can’t just be with anyone / It’s got to be with you.” The video, directed by Nico Paolillo (Deafheaven, BAD OMENS), exhibition Ella Balinska (Resident Evil, The Occupant) as he observes strange phenomena, until he meets a man who shares the same energy. A red halo envelops the moon, creating an atmosphere that recalls the theme of the album. The title “The WOW! Signal” refers to a radio signal detected in 1977 from the constellation of Sagittarius, lasting 72 seconds, noted by the astronomer with the exclamation “WOW!”which has become both a scientific and cultural reference.
