MTV celebrates, proposing them, its unplugged
On 1 August 1981 the musical television station MTV The broadcasts began giving way to an epochal revolution, launching the video clip as a form of art, communication and promotion in the record.
It was October 31, 1989 on the stage of the National Video Center, NYC went up the Squeeze, Syd Straw and the guitarist Elliot Easton (The Cars) for a concert/transmission in which guests performed in acoustic or “unplugged” guise. One of the best known, famous and successful television formats was born that day: MTV Unplugged.
From that first performance many artists performed in those ways, giving life to unique performances, some epochal some of which also came out on CD thus increasing the success of the performance itself.
Fans will certainly remember, among others, the unplugged of Eric Claptonthe unforgettable and unforgettable one of the Nirvanabut also of Mariah Carey, Alice in Chains, Rod Stewart, Bob Dylan and that of Bruce Springsteen which maintained the attached thorn.
The show was aired regularly from 1989 to 1999. From 2000 to 2009 the frequency of performances was stupid and the program was usually indicated as MTV unplugged no. 2.0.
Years later MTV Music (Sky 132 and 704 channel and Sky Glass 123 channel) looks to its past and broadcasts a programming dedicated to MTV Unplugged, recovering those old recordings.
The first concert will be (re) transmitted Wednesday February 12 at 11.00 pm and will see as the protagonist Eric Clapton. After this first date he will recover from 16 to 30 March from 22.00 to midnight, When the most exclusive performances of the greats of international music, directly from the MTV Music archives will be re -proposed.
On February 12, a new extensive, remixed and remastered edition of the Eric Clapton concert will be broadcast which includes exclusive content during which the guitarist discusses with the troupe on the execution of the songs and on the performance just before climbing on stage.
The recording of Clapton’s performance was made on January 16, 1992 at Bray Film Studios, Windsor, England and after airing became a lucky CD of the former Cream, published in 1992. He sold over 26 million copies throughout the world, dominating the rankings and becoming the best -selling live album of all time.
During the intimate performance, Clapton reimquired his songs with unpublished acoustic arrangements of successes such as “Layla“,”Tears in Heaven“And others. He also paid tribute to blues music that influenced him.
The first episode will subsequently be available from February 13 also on Paramount+.
After the first airing of 12 February, others will follow From 16 to 30 March, from 22.00 to midnight.
