Moby: “Stop supporting companies that favor Trump and ICE”
“Anger can be power if you know how to use it.” This phrase from Joe Strummer, leader of the Clash, accompanies the speech that Moby he shared on his Instagram profile. A speech in which he urges listeners to “stop supporting the crappy companies they support Donald Trump And ICE“.
The electronic music icon’s outburst comes after the murder of Alex Pretti by ICE agents in Minneapolis, which occurred two weeks after the killing of another citizen, Renee Nicole Good. Moby expressed his point of view on how people outraged by the killings can react.
“The question is not whether to be outraged and horrified by what is happening in the United States, but rather what to do about it,” he says in the video. According to Moby, people should protest because it is a “constitutionally recognized right” that everyone has, despite “Trump and his administration trying to take it away from us.”
Besides protesting, he also advised people to “stop supporting the shitty corporations that favor Trump and ICE” and to vote “not just in the next midterm elections, even though they are very important, but in every special election that happens throughout the year.” To conclude, Moby asked people to show their support for politicians who are “committed to standing up to Trump and ICE” and who also take care of their well-being so they can “be strong, healthy activists tomorrow and every day for the rest of their lives.”
Be outraged, be horrified, but as Joe Strummer said, anger can be power if you know how to use it.
