Mike Dirnt has spoken about Green Day’s future plans
The bassist of Green Day Mike Dirnt speaking about his band’s future plans with Guitar Player he explained that in reality there are no new projects in the pipeline. The Californian group needs time to regroup and reflect before working on new material.
The 53-year-old Dirnt said: “We’ve just come home (Green Day finished their tour at the end of September and have played around fifty shows in 2025, ed.), so we need some time to dedicate to family, some time to live, to live life so we can compose ourselves before we go out and make another statement. We need to sit and listen and reflect. We’ll play our guitars at home and then we’ll get together to talk of music and other things.”
Dirnt also highlighted that the band is also taking time to observe what’s happening around them before deciding on their next creative direction. “There’s a lot going on in the world, this is probably the time for us to listen for a moment and see what’s going on, and then decide what we want to say. I know we’ll get there. We always get there.”
