Metallica breaks records in Germany

According to what was reported by the Berliner, i Metallica they set an attendance record for the largest concert ever held in a stadium in Germany, performing in front of 94,000 people at the Olympiastadion in Berlin last May 30th. The previous record belonged to U2which, in 2009, brought just over 90,000 spectators to the Olympiastadion. The facility’s maximum capacity for concerts is usually around 72,000 seats.

The Californian band’s M72 world tour features a new circular stage setup that moves the Snake Pit of Metallica center stage, allowing organizers to sell more tickets. Since the stage is hollow in the center, there is more space available to accommodate fans.

THE Metallica commented on the attendance record in Berlin with a message published on social channels: “Night after night, city after city, the MetallicaFamily doesn’t stop! Yesterday, over 94,000 of you helped break the record for the biggest show EVER at the Olympiastadion. Thank you!”.

“They are absolutely at the peak of their worldwide popularity,” he told Hits Daily Double Cliff Burnstein by Q Prime, one of the historic managers of Metallica. “When we started managing Metallica over forty years ago, the idea that bands could work into their 60s wasn’t something we took seriously; we didn’t think there would be an industry where you could reach this level of popularity at this age. It’s beyond anything we imagined.”

After Berlin the next stage of the European journey of the Metallica concerns Italy and it Dall’Ara Stadium in Bologna. James Hetfield and his companions will play on June 3rd supported by Knocked Loose And Gojira.

THE Metallica will donate a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales of all their concerts to local charities via the band’s foundation, All Within My Hands. Founded in 2017, the foundation has raised over $20 million to support professional and technical training courses, initiatives to combat food insecurity and interventions in the event of natural disasters.
