Wayne Coyne's memorable first meeting with Paul McCartney

McCartney, Wings: the reprint of “Venus and Mars” for the 50th anniversary

To celebrate fifty years from the release of the historic Wings album by Paul McCartney “Venus and Mars”, a reissue of the disc will be released.

The fourth album of the former Beatle and his band, originally published in 1975, will be available in a new “Half-Speed Master” edition from March 21st.

The original version of the album came shortly before the legendary “Wings Over the World” tour, and had been anticipated by the single “Liste to What the Man Said”, which at the time reached the first place in the US ranking. “Venus and Mars”, also containing the classic song “Letting Go”, reached the summit of the sales chart both in the United States and in the United Kingdom, and sold over four million copies all over the world.

The vinyl edition for the 50th anniversary was built with the “Half-Speed” technique, using a high resolution transfer of the original Master Nastri 1975, curated by Miles Showell at the historic Abbey Road Studios in London.

The reprint is presented in a press note as “a meticulous reproduction of the original British publication” and includes the recreation of the “Venus and Mars Are ALIGHT TONIGHT” circular and the bookmark with the illustration of the “comparative dimensions of the sun and planets “. In addition, two posters are included with photographs by Aubrey Powell and Sylvia De Swaan, while the iconic cover signed by Hipgnosis has been recreated and presented in an opening case. In addition to the new physical version, fans will be able to listen to “Venus and Mars” in Dolby Atmos for the first time on digital platforms, thanks to the new mix curated by Giles Martin and Steve Orchard.

According to the press release taken from NME, further celebratory activities and ads related to the Wings will soon be revealed.
