Matia Bazar, Cassano against Antonella Ruggiero: “unrecognize”

The rags are flying among the former members of the Matia Bazar, the historic pop-rock band also reached international success, among the most important from the 70s onwards. Piero Cassano, musician, author and composer, known for being a central member and founder of the Genoese training, replied with a letter published on social media to some statements of the former voice and component Antonella Ruggiero, she also made the history of the group, interviewed by Corriere della Sera. This is the text of Cassano’s letter:

Very kind Ms Antonella Ruggiero,
Unfortunately, I read your statements published yesterday, 8/8/2025, by Corriere della Sera on your interview. As you can see, I have the unfortunately, unfortunately, because some of your statements – I tell you in no uncertain terms – do not honor you. Indeed, in no uncertain terms, they made the person who, although very good in singing, does not tell many truths, if he turns them and tells them in his own way. I unrecognize towards a great group past, but above all without total respect for Giancarlo Golzi and Aldo Stellita (so they are called the dead people, your former companions Matia Bazar, who you have not had the courage to name in the least). And you always forget about Carlo Marrale, the undersigned Piero, then by Mauro Sabbione and Sergio Cossu.

Remember, Antonella, never forget it, that if you are the great Antonella Ruggiero, the stratospheric artist today, you must surely have it to your voice, but also to all of us indiscriminately. Carlo Marrale, more than me, wrote for you and for the unique, wonderful songs group, who will remain history in the time of the times, those that have given you the first real notoriety. Songs, among other things, that you still sing in your concerts. Unforgivable, when asked if you were ever felt with the rest of the band, your insensitive answer: we saw ourselves at the funeral of two of them. Two of them? And the names? UNACCEPTABLE! I immediately understood that, albeit good, you had a little sensitive character. I understand the effort you make with yourself to appear to the public a normal person … because you feel diva, a superior being. But only why do you have a nice voice?

Have respect for everyone, Antonella, starting with yourself, and not telling unconventional things. To me he introduced you to you, your boyfriend of the time, and not the PFM, and I made you do consenting Aldo, Carlo and Pucci Cochis, drummer of us then Jet, the choirs in our album Faith Speranza Charity.
