Marracash, new surprise album
Marracash has released the new album by surprise: it is titled “Peace is over”, it contains 13 songs and arrived on the platforms at 7 this morning. The psychedelic cover depicts a sort of bubble created with a fish-eye lens, the work of Corrado Grilli, aka Mecna.
The album was created together with the two producers Marz and Zef, it does not contain featuring but there are samples from Ivan Graziani (“Firenze”, “Canzone Triste”), from Pooh (“Uomini Soli”), from BLUEM (“Monedì” ) and Giacomo Puccini (“Madama Butterfly”).
According to what the rapper said in a press release that arrived half an hour after the album’s release, the theme is the story of the forms of isolation
“One of these is everyone’s bubble, the bubble in which each of us can lock ourselves away, but then there are many bubbles that represent different universes: the real estate or crypto bubble, the anxiety-inducing bubble of social media in which we often find ourselves alone. ”
The rapper’s new album, the follow-up to 2021’s “Noi, lui, gli altri”, was widely awaited: it had been talked about for some time, and Marracash already has a stadium tour booked for next summer (which, moreover, this morning he added a date, the second at San Siro on 26 June). However, a surprise release was not foreseen, without any previous promotional activity or teaser: a practice that was very popular a few years ago, but less frequent today.
A curiosity: the first album released by surprise (in that case on iTunes) was “Beyoncé”, released on December 13th: it was 2013 (here’s the story). This is why the practice of releasing a surprise album has long been called “To pull a Beyoncé.”
