Mariah Carey: “I’m not in the Rock Hall and my lawyer is”
Mariah Carey she complained about not being included in the Rock & Roll Hall of Famewhile his lawyer received (indirectly) the honor two years ago.
The singer admitted she was excited about the prospect of joining the class of 2024 alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Cher and others, but that she didn’t like the fact that she wasn’t chosen.
When asked what she thought about the matter, Carey laconically replied to the LA Times: “My thought is that I didn’t get in.”
Mariah Carey continued: “Everyone was calling me and saying, ‘I think you’re going to get in!’ and so I was excited about it. But then it didn’t happen. My lawyer got into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame before me.” .
Carey is represented by Allen Grubmanwho he also worked for Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, U2 and others. In 2022 to another of his clients, John Mellencampthe Ahmet Ertegun Prize was awarded. Also of note is that Grubman is a co-founder of the Rock Hall.
In the same interview, Carey sighed when asked about her Grammy wins and explained, “They gave me two Grammys when I started (in 1991 in the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance categories – with “Vision of Love” – and Best New Artist). Then one year (1995) – a huge year for me, career-wise – I had six nominations with the album “Daydream” and the singles ‘One Sweet Day‘, ‘Always Well My Baby‘ And ‘Fantasy‘. All those songs in a row ended up being so important that I thought, “Okay, at least ‘One Sweet Day‘ will win as best duet (with i Boyz II Men) or something like that.”
Then at the awards show I sat there, waiting the whole time and got nothing.” She added: “I thought, ‘This isn’t funny.’ But what can I do? Be an angry loser and say, ‘Fuck the Grammys. “? And anyway…. If they give me more Grammys, I’ll like them more.”
Meanwhile Mariah Carey is about to re-release his mega-hit for the Christmas holidays”All I Want For Christmas is You” on the occasion of the 30th anniversary, as well as his Christmas album “Merry Christmas“, in which the song was contained.
In August 2024, the 55-year-old American artist lost her mother Patricia and sister, aged 87 and 63 respectively, on the same day.
