Maneskin: Damiano takes a break. Thomas: “The band is united”

Damiano David takes a break

The reunion rumors

For the record, Raggi also makes his debut as a singer on the album.
«Un year off to try different things»
In an interview with New Musical Express the guitarist, answering a question aboutimpact that his solo career and that of Damiano David could have an impact Maneskin (who in the meantime have graduated for fourth consecutive year like him most listened to Italian artists worldwide on Spotify), he first underlined how the band is united but that she simply took it «a year off to try different things» and then added: «The idea is simply to experiment in different worldswhich I believe it is important for a band. I guess when we’ll go back to the studio we will bring many different elementsbecause everyone has faced a different path. It’s a thing fantasticand I believe that It will help the band’s creative process a lot. I think there’s something to it positive in the fact that everyone has space for experience».
The last time together
THE’last time that the Maneskins appeared Together it was last October on the occasion of one of Damiano David’s two concerts at the Palazzo dello Sport in Rome: Thomas Raggi, Victoria De Angelis and Ethan Torchio made a surprise appearance, rekindling the fans’ hopes. A powerful image, the diffusion of which was not left to chance: the clip of the arrival of the three was promptly provided by the press office, making the rounds of editorial offices and social media. An episode that came a few days after an ambiguous speech made by Damiano David during a concert at the Roundhouse in London. It was last September 28th when the singer, before singing his “Perfect life”, explaining the reasons for his solo breakthrough to the 4 thousand spectators of the London arena, explained: «One day something broke and I no longer felt happy. I didn’t understand why. I was in a successful band that toured incredibly well. This record helped me understand what was wrong: My life was perfect, but it was someone else’s idea of perfection, not mine.». In subsequent concerts, such as the one on October 7 at the Forum in Milan, the singer tried to correct his aim: «I couldn’t be understood, but this feeling had nothing to do with the other members». Last December 8, however, at the Brooklyn Paramount in New York David let himself go to a new moment of truth, telling how, at a certain point, the experience with the Maneskins stopped coinciding with his dream: «We were famous all over the world. We started touring, traveling, playing in the best venues. It was a dream, the best experience life had ever offered me. But then something inside me broke and I realized it was too for me. I stopped enjoying all that. I wrote this record and I realized that the reason for my sadness was that I was really living a dream, but it wasn’t mine.”
The conditions for the reunion
Only they know what’s really cooking in the pot. Damiano David himself dictated the conditions for the return in recent months: «To get back together we must all be well rested. And above all, it must start from an authentic urgency, from something we really feel. It doesn’t have to feel like work, but a shared desire. Only then will it make sense to return to the studio». Given that on one side strictly artistic it is difficult to imagine a way through which the loyalty to the sacred fire of rock sworn by Thomas Raggi with his “Masquerade”which is the closest toManeskin aestheticcan coexist with the Damiano David’s pop breakthrough and that DJ techno by Victoria De Angelisall that remains is wait. The group, however, he hasn’t started working on new material yet (the last one is “Rush!” of 2023): «But we have some interesting things that we can try when we get back to the studio», promises Raggi.
