Mac Miller releases second posthumous album ‘Balloonerism’
Six years after the death of Mac Miller at just 26 years old, his music lives on. As announced by the family, a new film will be released on January 17th new posthumous album of the rapper who tragically passed away in 2018. The album, which will be titled “Balloonerism“, will arrive five years after the previous work published after Miller’s death, “Circles” of 2020.
The late artist, whose real name was Malcolm James McCormick, reportedly worked on “Balloonerism” between 2013 and 2015a period in which he also made “Watching movies with the sound off”, “Delusional Thomas”, “Faces” and “GO:OD AM”.
In announcing the release of the album posthumously, according to what was reported by Pitchfork, the family explained:
“Many Malcolm fans are familiar with ‘Balloonerism,’ a full-length album that he created around the time of ‘Faces’ release in 2014. It’s a project of great importance to Malcolm, so much so that he commissioned the artwork and discussions were held regularly over when it should be released, although ultimately ‘GO:OD AM’ and subsequent albums ended up taking precedence.
We believe the project showcases both the breadth of his musical talents and his fearlessness as an artist. Given that unofficial versions of the album have been circulating online for years and that releasing ‘Balloonerism’ was something that Malcolm has often said was important to him, we felt it was more appropriate to present an official version of the project to the world. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce that ‘Balloonerism’ will be released on January 17, 2025.”
