Loredana Bertè: “Tell Taylor Swift that ‘You’re Beautiful’ is mine”

“I received hundreds of videos of all the fans singing ‘Sei bellissima’ to Taylor Swift. Let it be known that ‘Sei bellissima’ is my song, let everyone know. Even Taylor Swift”. This is how Loredana Bertè reacts to the homage that the swifties reserved for Taylor Swift last Saturday on the occasion of the first of the two Italian dates of the “Eras tour”, at the San Siro Stadium in Milan.

At a certain point in the show, the over 64 thousand fans crowded in the stalls and in the stands of the Meazza sang in unison the chorus of the hit written by Claudio Daiano (lyrics) and Gian Pietro Felisatti (music) that in 1975 catapulted the singer from Bagnara Calabra to the top of the Italian charts, destined to become not only a warhorse of the latter but a true evergreen of Italian music. The videos of the tribute naturally also reached the original interpreter of “Sei bellissima”, who reacted with this video posted on her official social channels.

It’s certainly not the first time that an audience has sung “Sei bellissima” during a concert, to pay homage to the artist on stage. In the past few months, Harry Styles, Lana Del Rey and Rosalía, among the stars of international pop, have also been honored in this way. Yet this time Loredana Bertè wanted to claim the song’s motherhood. Who knows, after having been an inspiration for Madonna and Lady Gaga – she herself underlined the similarity between the wedding dress worn on stage at the Festivalbar final in 1982 with “Non sono una signora” and the one shown off two years later by the Queen of Pop for a service; and it was always Loredana who claimed that Lady Gaga “stole” her idea for the fake baby bump shown in 1986 at Sanremo to the tune of “Re” – now the queen of Italian rock might not also receive a tribute from Taylor Swift. It would be surreal.
