Lionel Richie: “Michael Jackson stink”
Lionel Richie in his new book of memories, ‘Truly’among others, he also spoke of his friend Michael Jackson arguing that hygiene was not exactly its strong point.
In the book Richie argues that Jackson led “an eccentric daily life, as if he were a distracted but still boy professor”. Always speaking of the King of pop disappeared in June 2009 he also reports that the manufacturer Quincy Joneswho worked with Jackson to some of his most famous songs, made fun of him calling him “Smelly”.
In his book, of which an extract was published on People, he says: “Michael also laughed, realizing that he has not changed or washed his clothes for a couple of days … we have all our oddities”. Lionel Richie says – perhaps too simplistically – that Jackson’s poor hygiene was partly due to his extreme fame. He kept him away from the shops, so he couldn’t buy anything without running the risk of being attacked by fans. He also says that when he sent clothes in the laundry, they often never returned precisely because of his fame.
Mista of the impossibility of conducting a normal life of Michael Jackson: “Everyone kept something like souvenir. Simply took the habit of wearing the same pants until they became unusable. He was on tour and performed with the elaborate costumes made for him by his stylists, or he wore the pajamas trousers and the studio slippers or wore his evening clothes. Or was at home with something wide and comfortable to be able to try his dance steps and play with his dance pets “.
He continued again by telling an emblematic episode: “Every time Michael came to see me, he perhaps wore jeans and shirts. And the jeans or fell off the dough or they were too short to be jeans and, well, they stink. I took him home, along the secondary streets, and it was sweet and grateful. As soon as I returned home, I passed in front of the living room I noticed There were a pair of Michael Jackson’s underpants and his old worn jeans.
