Linkin Park: Sum 41’s Whibley to Be Band’s New Vocalist?
The reunion of the Oasisof course, has attracted the attention of the music world, but just in these days another group, namely Linkin Park, orphans of the late Chester Bennington, have activated a countdown to reveal something important related to the future of the band. Needless to say, the spotlight is on the name of the person who could take over Chester’s legacy, thus becoming the new voice of the band. Some time ago, even before the group’s social announcement, it had ended up in the guessing game Amy Lee of Evanescence. Rumors about a possible and imminent return of the “In the end” band with a new frontwoman had started to circulate at the beginning of last April, after a radio interview with Jay Gordon of Orgy. “Linkin Park is a fantastic band. It’s going to be tough without Chester Bennington, but we’ll see. I heard they have a female singer now…“, Gordon told the radio show “Wired in the Empire” on KCAL 96.
But Amy was quick to clarify that she had absolutely no talks with Linkin Park, in a new interview with Canadian radio station iHeart Radio: “That’s an incredible compliment, but these rumors are not true. I have not been contacted. But I’m a huge fan, I think our worlds, our fanbases, are largely made up of the same people.” In these hours the lights have shifted to Deryck Whibley of Sum 41, who asked fans, via social media, to stay tuned because “there will be news”. Many have made a 2+2 that is a bit forced and hastymaking the wait for the news of Linkin Park coincide with that of the Canadian band. Just as if the two worlds were somehow linked.
The rumors about “Whibley being the new frontman of Linkin Park” have become so insistent that Whibley himself has been forced to dispel the rumors: “It’s been brought to my attention that a lot of people think I might join a band. But I just want to say, despite popular belief, that I won’t join Oasis or Linkin Park. Or any other band.” He went on to explain that he will be announcing a new tour and a book release date, and that he can’t wait to hear what Linkin Park will unveil next.In short, with Amy Lee and Whibley now out of the way, the guessing game of names begins once again..
