Limp Bizkit, farewell to bassist and founder Sam Rivers
The bassist and founder of Limp Bizkit, Sam Riversdied last night in 48 years old. The band itself announced it on social media, without specifying, however, what the causes of death were: “Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat. Sam Rivers wasn’t just our bassist: it was pure magic. The beat of every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound”.
Made up of Fred Durst, John Otto, DJ Lethal and Rivers, Limp Bizkit formed in 1994. They represented a distinctive sound of the late 1990s and actively contributed to the spread of heavy music. It was Durst who involved Rivers, who previously played in Malachi Sage: he told him that the time had come to start his own business, combine rock and hip hop and try to do something new. Rivers accepted and proposed to Dunst that his cousin John Otto, a drum student, join the band. The rest is history.

“We shared so many moments, the wild ones, the quiet ones, the beautiful ones, and each one meant even more because Sam was there,” the band writes. “We are in shock” wrote DJ Lethal, born Leor Dimant, under the announcement on Instagram. He also asked fans to respect the privacy of Rivers’ family.
