Les Votives: “We aim to conquer abroad”
“Now we start to be serious,” the Les Votives smile the trio composed of Riccardo Lardinelli (voice and guitar), Tommaso Venturi (bass) and Angelo Maria Randazzo (drums), 23, 19 and 25 years old, Milanese, is the real revelation of the last edition of “X Factor”.
Arrived from Outsider, the Les Votives brought to the Sky talent show of the healthy Rock’n’roll, conquering the public with covers such as those of “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” of Jet, “Sign of the Times” of Harry Styles, “You Know I’m no good” by Amy Winehouse and “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)”, who have now published as a new single after their unpublished “Monster”. Second classified behind the winner Mimì, the three musicians now prepare to return to their natural habitat: the stage. Entering the Roster of Live Nation, among the giants of world live music, the Les Votives will kick off on March 6 from the Santeria Toscana in Milan to the tour in the clubs which will go on until mid -April.
What has changed compared to before?
«Now we are more structured. Before we were more punk: we played everywhere it happened. Also on the street: we self -produced the records with the money that the passersby left us. But this is not a goal, this is a starting point ».
What ambitions do you have?
“Our agency works a lot also abroad, so the ambition is that. Moreover, our musical references are international: Radiohead, Strokes, Fontaines DC. We do not put ourselves limits. We are planning concerts outside Italy for this summer: we aim for great festivals. We will see”.
Is it true that you were not too convinced of the idea of participating in X Factor?
“Yes. Simply because we had never taken it into consideration. However, we had fears that then vanished, once inside the program: they gave us white paper. And Achille Lauro was the perfect mentor: he supported us and valued us ».
Is it possible to rock to X Factor without distorting?
“Certain. The secret is to go straight on your way, have your own identity and defend it, without being afraid to say one’s own ».
Did the Maneskin open a portal?
“Safe. The market has changed thanks to them. A young, Italian rock band that comes to conquer important stages all over the world: first it seemed unthinkable ».
Why go out with a cover and not with an unpublished?
“Because we liked and worked. We have revisited “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)” in our style: it’s Chic Rock “.
How was this definition born?
«A paraculato. We were returning from an evening. People continued to ask us: “What are you doing?”. And we came out like this: “Chic Rock”. Represents us. We do not collect exactly the clichés of the Alfa male, that wrong ideal that is usually behind rock. We are 70s, a sort of small prince Rockettaro ».
When will the album arrive?
«We are working together with Antonio Filippelli (already alongside Levante, French saints and Ghemon, and musical director of X Factor, ed.) To an EP, but we still don’t know when it will come out. He will contain unpublished songs. We will certainly play many on the stages of concerts in clubs ».
