For today, November 27, it was announced by Fieldings Auctioneers of Stourbridge, in the United Kingdom, an auction rare and highly anticipated memorabilia related to the world of music which also includes personal items belonging to John Bonhamthe legendary drummer of Led Zeppelin who passed away on September 25, 1980.
Among the most significant pieces about to be auctioned, entrusted on consignment to brother in law of Bozno, Allan Weaverfigure a flashy blue velvet suit, a brown leather coat and three shirts in western style, one of which appears in a photograph of Bonham wearing it during the filming of “The song remains the same”.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity to celebrate the legacy of one of rock music’s most influential drummers“, said Rachel Holland, director and music and entertainment specialist at Fieldings Auctioneers, who auctioned this lot which “offers collectors and fans the unique opportunity to own a tangible fragment of rock history”. She added: “Allan Weaver’s incredible contribution allows fans and collectors to connect with John Bonham in a very personal way“.
Regarding the collection, Allan Weaver told BBC News that he met the late drummer through his wife Beryl, one of Bonham’s wife Pat’s sisters. “When they asked me at work, ‘What’s Bonzo like?’, I’d say, ‘He’s my brother-in-law. We go to the pub, have a couple of pints, have a laugh and all that, do things together.'” Weaver added that it was “a shame” to see Bonham’s clothes locked away in a warehouse, explaining: “People want to see them, I’d rather they come out for people to see than just sit in storage somewhere. I have the memories that no one can take away from me, of actually being with John and sharing so many things, and that’s what’s special to me.”
