Led Zeppelin: a new live EP
The Zeppelin LEDs will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their sixth album, “Physical Graffiti”, with the release of their new Live EP in Vinyl 12 “of 180 grams, CD and digital format on September 12th. On the same date an updated edition will also be published for the 50th anniversary of the 3LP box “Physical Graffiti Deluxe Edition” of 2015, with the accompanying audio disc, now with a new Bonus of the promotional poster. The new Live EP contains live recordings of “In My Time of Dying” and “Trampled Under Foot” by Earl’s Court of 1975, together with “Sick Again” and “Kashmir” from Knebworth of 1979. These live performances were originally published on the 2003 Led Zeppelin DVD and appear for the first time in CD, vinyl, digital format.
Published on February 24, 1975 in the United States (and four days later in the United Kingdom), “Physical Graffiti” immediately obtained the first platinum album and then collecting 17. The fifteen original songs represent a creative tour de force that explores the dynamic musical range of the band, from the overwhelming rock of “Custard Pie” to the exotic construction of “Kashmir” and to the groove funky of “Trampled Under Foot”. “He goes from one extreme to another, but at the same time it is very clear that it is Zeppelin … I love the album and it works very well as a double album. There are some really amazing and roaring songs,” said Robert Plant know. “Physical Graffiti” was composed of new compositions including “Kashmir”, “Sick Again”, “Ten Years Gone”, “The Wanton Song”, “Custard Pie”, “Trampled Under Foot” and “In My Time of Dying”, as well as unpublished songs taken from previous sessions of the album: “Houses of the Holy”, ” Rover “,” Black Country Woman “(from the sessions of Houses of the Holy),” Down by the Seaside “,” Boogie with Stu “,” Night Flight ” (from the Untitled sessions, aka “Led Zeppelin IV”) and “bron-yr-aur” (from the sessions of “Led Zeppelin III”).
Jimmy Page began the initial work in his home studio in Plumpon, Sussex, England, between the summer and autumn of 1973, with the first recording sessions that took place in October of the same year In Headley Grange, using Ronnie Lane’s mobile study. Further sessions in Headley continued in January 1974. Additional over -Incublished were recorded at the Olympic Studios, where Page completed the mixing of the album in July 1974. “We had enough material for an LP and a half, so I thought: ‘We release a double album and use part of the material we had previously done but that we had never released’. I always thought that the sequence of an album was very important and that it was part of my role as a manufacturer,” explained Jimmy Page. “Physical Graffiti” was not only the first double LP of the band, but also the first release of their new label, the Swan Song, launched in May 1974. The album release was announced on November 13, 1974.
