LCD Soundsystem, officially released “X-Ray Eyes”
LCD Soundsystem have officially released their new single “X-Ray Eyes” on digital platforms, following the song’s debut on a radio show on NTS and on their website. The publication of the piece comes after their inclusion in the bill of the next Primavera Sound, which included the news in the press release presenting the festival that the band will release a new album next year.
To confirm the arrival of other new music, James Murphy thought of it and to present the song on social media he wrote in a message: “There is a new song by LCD, entitled ‘X-Ray Eyes'”. And again:
“It’s the first single of what’s shaping up to be a new album. Don’t ask me when it will be, because we’re still working on it. But it’s very nice to release new music. We’ve done a small run of silk-screened 12”s that will be sold to the next Los Angeles and New York concerts, and DFA will have a limited supply, but don’t fret if you don’t get one because there will be a more readily available commercial version of the same record when we can get it together We just did a stack of white labels and we’re screening 100 at a time for each show. It’s a short time thing, and it’s fun. There’s no finished album yet, but when we’re not playing live we’re getting closer and closer to completing it the news. Everything else you hear is bullshit and speculation.
LCD Soundsystem released their latest album, “American Dream”, in 2017. Since then the band has – among other things – released the live album entitled “Electric Lady Sessions”, containing live versions of some previously released songs by the band and three covers: “I Want Your Love” by Chic, “(We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thang” by Heaven 17 and “Seconds” by Human League. “New Body Rhumba” was also shared in 2022.
