Larry Mullen Jr. could soon return to play in U2
“How is Larry Mullen Jr.?”: the most avid U2 fans have been asking themselves this for months. It was 2022 when the Irish band’s drummer announced that he had to undergo surgery to resolve elbow and knee problems, later making it known that he would not be able to take part in the group’s residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. Now, two years later, Larry Mullen Jr. sees a light at the end of the tunnel. The 62-year-old musician may soon reunite with his bandmates. This was revealed by Adam Clayton and The Edge.
The bassist and guitarist of the “One” group were guests on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music 1 show and revealed that Larry Mullen Jr. attended the penultimate concert of the residency in Las Vegas:
He said he liked it a lot and probably even thought, ‘I can’t wait to get back in the band.’
Then the actual announcement:
The good news is that Larry is getting better every week and we’ll be making a lot of noise with him in no time. So we’re very excited about that.
At Sphere, Larry Mullen Jr.’s place was filled by Bram van den Berg. The band has not yet announced any shows scheduled for 2024.
