Kerry King of Slayer: “Metallica is better than Megadeth”
Although it is not always useful to make comparisons, it seems natural that it arises in the public a preference for Metallica or Megadethgiven the past and the rivalry between the two historic bands. The same also happens among artists, such as – for example – the guitarist of Slayer, Kerry Kingwho recently explained frankly why he prefers the team led by James Hetfield to the one led by Dave Mustaine.
During a new interview with “Reigning TV”, together with the singer of his solo band, Mark Osegueda, King He listed Metallica as his favorite band over Megadeth. Explaining his choice, the guitarist threw a dig at Mustaine, and declared:
“Metallica has a singer. Sorry, Dave!”
Referring then to the few concerts he did with Megadeth in 1984, Kerry King added: “I know I played in Mustaine’s band, but I choose James“.
The statement by the Slayer guitarist – along with Metallica and Megadeth among the bands that emerged from the thrash metal scene of the Californian Bay Area in the 1980s – follows the tracklist announcement of the latest album from Dave Mustaine’s group which will include a cover of a song by Hetfield and co. The record, that will be the latest project Megadeth record company and bears the name of the historic thrash metal band as its title, will contain ten songs plus a bonus track, that is a new interpretation of Metallica’s “Ride the lightning”.. The song, published for the first time in 1984 on the Four Horsemen’s second studio album, also featured Dave Mustaine, who was Metallica’s lead guitarist between 1982 and 1983, among the authors. In a recent interview, Mustaine explained the reasons that led him to now create his own version.
