Keith Flint left us five years ago

Iconoclast, non-conformist, rebel, provocative, a true agitator in his own way. Keith Flint he was an absolute protagonist – together with Prodigy – big beat, the subgenre of electronic music born in the United Kingdom around the mid-90s thanks to the productions of artists and groups such as Fatboy Slimi Chemical Brothers and the same Prodigy. Of that scene, the singer who passed away on March 4, 2019 at the age of 49 was one of the most disruptive characters, also thanks to his histrionic live performances.

Born on 17 September 1969 in Braintree, in the county of Essex, south of London, attracted by art and the stages, Flint attended the Bosswells School of Performing Arts as a boy and began to take his first steps in the world of entertainment as a dancer. It was the meeting at a rave party with a DJ, Liam Howlettrepresenting the spark that then led to the birth of Prodigy, destined to become the standard bearers of the hardcore techno scene of the 90s and to represent a point of reference for many bands born in the following years. If at first Flint was enlisted as a simple dancer, starting from 1996, with the single “Firestarter”began to take on the role of vocalist for the band (role originally held by Maxim).

The first album by Prodigy in which Keith Flint he was in fact credited as vocalist fu “The fat of the land” of 1997, the same one it was part of “Firestarter”, which also allowed the band to obtain a Grammy nomination for “Best Alternative Music Performance”. In addition to singing in “Firestarter”Flint also recorded “Breathe”, “Serial thriller” And “Fuel my fire”. She continued to wear the role of vocalist also for subsequent records, “Invaders must die” (read the review here) of 2009, “The day is my enemy” (read the review here) of 2015 and “No tourists” (read the review here) of 2018.

In 2003 Keith Flint he also founded a parallel band to Prodigyi Flintcomposed together with the guitarist Jim Daviesthe drummers Kieron Pepper And Tony Howlett and the bass player Rob Holliday. The group debuted in the summer of 2003 with the single “Asteroids”between punk and metal, which in the intentions of Flint and his associates should have preceded an album: the release of “Device #1”this is the title of the album, was however canceled and the album circulated in the United Kingdom only in the form of a limited edition promo disc, containing ten tracks.
