It’s not a question of the market, but of life and inner rebirth: Kayros’ motto is “there are no bad boys”The main purpose of Universal Music’s collaboration with the Kayros Music label is to help young people to making music in a concrete way for an effective reintegration into society.
“What we are carrying forward is an increasingly structured evolution of the music laboratories that we have set up for some time, the studio that Sugar Music gave us helped make everything more professionaland now Universal Music Italia has arrived too – continues Don Claudio – the kids of the community, through music, try to find their ‘Kayros’ (‘opportune moment’ in Greek). It is a way, for these young people, to channel their energies towards a future of rebirth and redemption. But we don’t want to be a factory of illusions: here, first of all, you learn that to make music you need to have organization, precise timing, discipline and put your heart and soul into it.. And, regardless of the results, the main goal must always be to express oneself”. The boys are supported by professionals: Dimax, Matteo Gorelli, Dario Firmano, Dr.Cream, a team that helps them in many fields. “One of the main purposes, in addition to that of telling about oneself, is also linked to the transmit work knowledge ranging from production to sound management to video making and graphics: this is a fundamental aspect to understand the usefulness of these laboratories and the label which can also provide tools for integration into society,” Dimax underlines.
Alongside the pedagogical activity which sees Don Claudio is involved daily with the children of the communitieshe has spoken at numerous debates and public meetings on current social issues, spirituality, education, family, drug addiction, and youth marginalization. Today, promising artists are releasing singles, putting themselves 100% on the line.”And there is no censorship, even when the texts are stronger and more corrosive, perhaps the result of difficult experiences, we do not put filters because we believe in understanding, not in silencing – Don Claudio underlines – right now we are listening to very introspective songs, anything but banal. The effects of these activities on the kids are constant and evident: making music marks their days, it occupies them, it engages them, it makes them hope for something better, it allows them to acquire skills”. Music may not save the world, but it can save individual lives.
