Kanye West: now the date in Reggio Emilia is also creaking
And now Kanye West’s date at the Hellwatt Festival in Reggio Emilia is also creaking, after the cancellation of the Wireless Festival following the wave of controversy that overwhelmed the rapper, who came under fire across the Channel due to the anti-Semitic statements he made in recent years and which ended up costing him the revocation of his entry visa to the United Kingdom. Taking a stand in Italy, after none other than the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan have taken one in the United Kingdom, is theNational Association of Italian Partisans of Reggio Emilia. Through its president Anna Ferrari the association announces: «We have already said in the past that West must not come to Reggio; I would like the organizers of the concert to speak (the artistic director of Hellwatt is Victor Yari Milani, ed.) who have made a choice and will take responsibility for it.” Along the same lines, as Repubblica reports, too Rosamaria Papaleo by Cisl Emilia Central: «Ye assures that he has changed, that he wants to play for peace and love and no longer for the swastika and anti-Semitism, but the question remains: does showbiz matter more than constitutional values?».
Adelmo Cervison of Aldo, one of the seven brothers shot by the Nazi-fascists in 1943 in Reggio Emilia, has no doubts: «Someone who goes around with swastikas is not worthy of singing anywhere, not just in Reggio Emilia or London».
The organizers of the Hellwatt Festival, for now, have not responded.
