And Jovanotti brought Italy to the main stage of Sziget

Jovanotti thinks positive (still) and sings it in “Fuorionda”

Don’t be scared by that Thegiornalisti-style intro which seems to herald a youthful turn from the former “Lucky Boy”: it is the very recognizable touch of Dardustenlisted by Jovanotti on board the ship that set sail from his Karakorum Studio in Cortona for a new adventure. It’s a flash, because then Lorenzo Cherubini’s style imposes itself: in “Fuorionda”, which arrives after “Montecristo” and is the second piece of the puzzle that will be the album “The human body” (will be released on January 31st), the Jovanotti of “Sabato” and the one of “Tutto l’amore che ho” meet.

On an electronic base the voice of “Mi fido di te” lets itself go into a long .stream of consciousnesswhich starts from the 2023 bicycle accident in Santo Domingo that cost him a fractured femur and collarbone (and two operations – “I could tell you that it still hurts and that he can’t decide to go through / that that day in the ambulance I understood that we die”, he sings) and arrives at reflections on society.

He who in “I think positive” he sang “I believe that in this world there is only one great church / that goes from Che Guevara to Mother Teresa, passing from Malcom without harming himself from one tribe to another, to jump from here and there without any care for beliefs, after more than thirty years in “Fuorionda” he sings: “Oh yeah, like in Russia and Ukraine / Tel Aviv and Palestine, oh yeah / In Latin America, oh yeah (…) Oh yeah, between Korea, Hawaii and China, oh yeah / on the North African coast, Italian politics” “Songs come, like daydreams, like spirits appear in the mind in the form of an image or a word or sometimes a sound or a groove, and for me the best thing to do is suspend judgment and write them down somewhere.

Then sometimes it happens to me that that ‘thing’ continues to come back to me in the following days and even if I don’t know it myself, it is it that knows me and tells me things about myself that were not foreseen and that tell me something, even thoughts that I would like not to think, like certain ‘outlanders’ who conquer center stage on TV. .In the ‘show’ of everyone’s life there are outliers, I made this song with my parents today, where OYEAH is my way of saying forward Lorè, let’s move forward, we are always at the beginning of something”, he explains.

If Thegiornalisti cited umbrella films, starting with “Sapore di mare” by Carlo Vanzina, Jovanotti quotes Federico Fellini and his “8 and a half”: “In the last scene the protagonist says these words that have stayed with me since the first time I saw him many years ago: ‘And it no longer scares me to tell the truth, what I don’t know, what I’m looking for, what I haven’t found yet. Only in this way do I feel alive, and I can look into your eyes without shame. Life is a celebration: let’s live it together!’. ‘Fuorionda’ is a piece from my new album ‘Il corpo romano (vol. 1)’ which comes out on January 31st with 15 new songs, very different from each other and each part of a unique body, a human body that wants to live and dance. Let’s dance together.”

The album which will be released on January 31st – and which, it is practically certain, the singer-songwriter will also promote with a passage as super guest at the Sanremo Festival 2025 – will only be the first part of a larger and more complex project, as can be deduced from the title itself. As always volcanic and irrepressible, in recent months Jovanotti – working with Dardust and other producers – has worked on a large quantity of songs: but unlike what he did ten years ago in “Lorenzo 2015 CC”, when he collected all the pieces in a monumental double album, with thirty songs in all, this time he decided to “split” the project into several parts. In recent weeks Lorenzo Cherubini has been busy in Castrocaro with the

rehearsals of the tour in the sports hallshosted by the Festive Pavilion: “We are in the most beautiful rehearsal room in the world. Not even U2 and the Rolling Stones have one like that. We have to deserve it, as Private Ryan said, but we will deserve it.” The tour – de force – will start on March 4th from Pesaro, to tour all of Italy with 43 dates.
