Josh Homme has very clear ideas about his post-mortem

Is 52 too early to think about the post-mortem? No, second Josh Homme. The leader of the Queens of the Stone Age he has already left instructions on how to proceed after his death.

In the context of the presentation of the album “Alive in the Catacombs”, Homme thus responds to a question from “Stereogum” about his death: “I want to be cremated, partly to go where all my family is”, reveals the singer, “but then, for the remaining part… I have this place in the deserta small plot of land. And I want to be buried under concrete, on which there must be a table and chairs and I want children to party and think deeply under the stars in the desert.”

Considering Homme’s love of the desert (from the “Desert Sessions” to other musical works recorded over the years at the Rancho de la Luna studio in Joshua Tree, California), it is not surprising that he chose a place in the desert as his final resting place.

“My first death experience was when I almost died when I was 12almost drowning, but with a deep feeling of positivity for not having died. For the next few weeks, the feeling that came from it was like radiating out and saying, ‘Oh, I’m not dead. He’s doing great,’” recalls Homme, who has stared death in the face several times over the years.

“There’s a sort of post-mortem euphoria. I remember it well. I remember thinking: I’ll just do what I want. I don’t think I have to wait and do what other people say.” Homme says he was definitely affected by the experience, adding: “It upset the sense of timing in life. There’s no real reason to wait and you think people think about what you did when you feel embarrassed, but they don’t actually think about you at all. So you should just do whatever you want.”
